IIT Delhi opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. The application requires the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International applicants may submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Those with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
