The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. This opportunity is for international students for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are accepted through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Deadline and Eligibility
The application portal for foreign national candidates closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Academic and Entrance Exam Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from exams like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is also mentioned.
Scores from international examinations are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Additionally, candidates need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
