IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Applications are accepted until March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Submission of scores from national eligibility tests may be required for certain programs. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores can also fulfill admission criteria. Accepted scores include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proof of English language proficiency from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is also necessary. IIT Delhi will assess candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
