About This Scholarship

The PM Yasasvi Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme provides financial assistance to Other Backward Class (OBC) students who are residents of Dadra Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu. This scheme aims to support their education from Class 11 up to the postdoctoral level. The application deadline for this scholarship is October 31, 2025.

The selected candidates will receive the following annual benefits based on their course category:

Group 1 • Degree and Postgraduate level professional courses: Academic allowance ₹10,000 and Tuition Fees ₹10,000 (Total ₹20,000).
Group 2 • Other professional courses leading to Degree, Diploma, and Certificate: Academic allowance ₹8,000 and Tuition Fees ₹5,000 (Total ₹13,000).
Group 3 • Graduate and Postgraduate courses that aren't covered in Groups 1 and 2: Academic allowance ₹6,000 and Tuition Fees ₹2,000 (Total ₹8,000).
Group 4 • All post-matriculation (Post Class 10 level) non-degree courses: Academic allowance ₹5,000 (Total ₹5,000).

Note: Students studying through correspondence/online courses shall not be eligible for the academic allowance. However, tuition fees will be paid to them.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, an applicant must:

• be an Indian national.
• be a domicile of Dadra Nagar Haveli & Daman and Diu.
• belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
• be studying in Class 11 through the postdoctoral level at a recognised school, college, or institution.
• have a family income of less than ₹2,50,000 from all sources.

Note:

• Applicants must belong to the OBCs, EBCs, or DNTs categories as specified by the State/UT of their permanent residence.
• They must have passed Matriculation, Higher Secondary, or any recognised University or Board of Secondary Education's higher examination.
• Students pursuing the same level of education in a different subject after completing a previous level (e.g., B.Sc. after B.A., B.Com. after B.A., M.A. in one subject after M.A. in another) are not eligible.
• Students who have completed their education in one professional field (e.g., LLB after B.T./B.Ed.) are not eligible.
• Students enrolled in Class 11 of Higher Secondary School courses or Class 12 of Multipurpose High School are ineligible, as these are considered continuous school programs. However, students who complete Class 10 of these courses and are considered equivalent to Matriculation, and then join other courses, are eligible as post-matric students.
• Students pursuing postgraduate courses in medicine will be eligible only if they are not permitted to practice during their course.
• Students who, after failing or passing undergraduate/postgraduate examinations in Arts/Science/Commerce, join any recognised professional or technical certificate/diploma/degree course will be awarded scholarships if otherwise eligible. Subsequent failures will not be condoned, except for courses in Group 1, and no further course changes will be allowed.
• Students pursuing studies through correspondence/online courses are also eligible. Correspondence includes distant and continuous education for courses in Central/State Universities only.
• Only two boys from the same parents/guardians are entitled to receive scholarships.
• This restriction does not apply to females. Accordingly, scholarships awarded to females from the same parent(s)/guardian(s) will not affect the eligibility of up to two boys from the same parent(s)/guardian(s) to receive scholarships.

Required Documents

• A passport-sized photograph.
• One attested copy of academic transcripts, including certificates, diplomas, and degrees.
• A valid caste certificate duly signed by an authorised Revenue Officer (RO), not below the rank of Tehsildar.
• An income certificate of the parent(s)/guardian(s) issued by the authority as decided by the state government.
• A receipt acknowledging the scholarship for the previous year (if applicable).

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:

Additional Allowances for ST students with disabilities studying in private unaided schools:

Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of 'Inclusive Education of the Disabled at Secondary Stage' (IEDSS) implemented by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), an assistance of ₹3,000 per annum is already being provided under its "Student Oriented Component" to students with disabilities studying at the Secondary stage in Government, local body, and Government-aided schools. However, students in unaided schools are not covered under IEDSS.

Therefore, ST students with disabilities studying in Class 9 and 10 in private, unaided, recognised schools will be eligible for allowances under this scheme, as follows:

Reader allowance for blind students: ₹160 monthly.
Transport allowance for disabled students: ₹160 monthly.
Escort allowance for extremely disabled students: ₹160 monthly.
Helper allowance for an orthopedically handicapped student: ₹160 monthly.
Coaching allowance for mentally ill/retarded students: ₹240 monthly.

Note: The disability, as defined by the Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995, must be certified by a competent medical authority of the State Government or UT Administration.

Note: The scholarship is awarded for one year per class. If a student repeats a class, they will not receive a scholarship for that class again.

Terms and Conditions for Income Criteria:

• While either parent is alive, only their combined income from all sources should be considered, regardless of income earned by other family members. Income declarations must reflect this.
• If both parents have died, the guardian supporting the student's studies must declare their income.
• Students who lose an earning parent and subsequently meet the scheme's income criteria will become eligible for the scholarship from the month of the parent's death, subject to fulfilling other eligibility conditions. These students may submit applications after the application deadline on compassionate grounds.
• House rent allowance received by the student's parents is exempt from income calculation if it is also exempt for income tax purposes.
• An income certificate is required only once, at the time of admission to courses lasting more than one year.

Hosteller: ₹1,200 per month for 10 months.
Day Scholar: ₹550 per month for 10 months.
• (Note: C.A./I.C.W.A./C.S./I.C.F.A. are applicable at day scholar rate only ₹550 per month).
Group II Courses (Professional Courses leading to Degree, Diploma, Certificate in areas like Pharmacy (B.Pharma), Nursing (B.Nursing), BFS, other paramedical branches like rehabilitation, diagnostics etc., Mass Communication, Hotel Management & Catering, Travel/Tourism/Hospitality Management, Interior Decoration, Nutrition & Dietetics, Commercial Art, Financial Services (e.g., Banking, Insurance, Taxation etc.) for which entrance qualification is minimum Sr. Secondary (10+2) and Vocational stream, ITI courses and Polytechnic where entrance qualification is Class 12 or above):
Hosteller: ₹820 per month for 10 months.
Day Scholar: ₹530 per month for 10 months.
Group III Courses (Graduate and Postgraduate courses not covered under Group I & Group II, e.g., B.A/B.Sc/B.Com etc., M.A/M.Sc/M.Com/M.Ed./M.Pharma etc.):
Hosteller: ₹570 per month for 10 months.
Day Scholar: ₹300 per month for 10 months.
Group IV Courses (All post-matriculation level non-degree courses for which the entrance qualification is High School (Class 10), e.g., Senior secondary certificate (Classes 11 and 12); both general and vocational stream, ITI courses, 3-year diploma courses in Polytechnics, etc.):
Hosteller: ₹380 per month for 10 months.
Day Scholar: ₹230 per month for 10 months.

Note: Students will receive reimbursement for compulsory non-refundable fees.

The students with disabilities will receive the additional allowances in the following manner:

Reader allowances: ₹240 per month (Groups I and II), ₹200 per month (Group III), and ₹160 per month (Group IV).
Transport allowances: Up to ₹160 per month are available for students who do not reside in the hostel on the educational institution's premises.
Escort allowances: ₹160 per month are provided for severely handicapped day scholar students with low extremity disabilities.
Helper allowance: A special payment of ₹160 per month is admissible to any hostel employee willing to assist a severely orthopedically handicapped student residing in the hostel who requires a helper.
Coaching allowance: An allowance of ₹240 per month is provided for extra coaching for mentally retarded and mentally ill students.

Note:

• Disabled students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category covered under this Scheme may also be eligible for additional benefits offered by other schemes.
• Disability, as defined under the relevant Act, must be certified by a competent medical authority of the State Government or Union Territory Administration.
