IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, and English language abilities.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews with faculty committees from their chosen discipline.
