IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students | Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
