IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Admission Details
The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide letters of recommendation.
The notification states that referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude and field proficiency. They will also assess research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Academic and Test Score Requirements
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is also mentioned.
International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant departments.
Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
