IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Admissions are for the academic year 2026-27.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are managed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters assessing the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- For PhD/PG Programs: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: GRE or GMAT.
English proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are also required.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. The interview panel consists of faculty from the relevant academic discipline.
