IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The admission portal is open for foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility and Scores
Admission may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is also mentioned.
International exam scores may also be considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee within the relevant discipline.
