IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 .

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic years 2026-27.

Prospective students must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Proficiency in English can be demonstrated through scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel of faculty members from the relevant discipline.

Interested students should visit the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in to submit their applications. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
