IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to foreign nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a self-declaration of their English language skills.
Applicants must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like GRE and GMAT may also be required.
English language proficiency must be proven. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview.
