IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Process and Requirements

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal will close at 4 pm on March 30, 2026.

Applicants need to provide a statement of English proficiency. They must also nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International candidates may also submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Selection

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Strong academic records are necessary to be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
