Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM . Prospective students can submit their applications via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
Referee Recommendations
Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude. They will also evaluate proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking will be reviewed. English language skills, both oral and written, will also be assessed by the referees.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from specific examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted scores are from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also considered.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE). Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores are also reviewed.
English Proficiency Tests
Candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests may also be accepted.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
