IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This information is detailed in the official notification.

Eligibility Criteria for PhD and PG Programs

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores are also considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Candidates can submit scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. The institute will invite candidates with strong academic records for interviews.

An interview committee, composed of faculty from the relevant discipline, will conduct the interviews. This final stage assesses a candidate’s suitability for the program.
