IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions for International Students

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for PhD and PG courses for the academic year 2026-27. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Applicants need to submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

While IIT Delhi offers a range of programs, specific admission requirements may vary. Applicants might need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.

International examination scores are also considered. These include scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates may also be required to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

The final selection will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
