IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration.

Application Requirements

Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. The referees will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Entrance Exam Scores

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national or international examinations. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
