IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, and English communication skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams for admission consideration. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examination scores are also accepted. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
Selection Process
Admission is based on performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
