IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Application Process

Applications are submitted online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Candidates must declare their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will evaluate candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific entrance examinations. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International examination scores are also considered:

  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or similar language assessments.

Admission Selection

Admission to IIT Delhi programs is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
