IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website, international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details
The application window remains open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for these programs for the 2026-27 academic year.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests.
- Indian Entrance Exams: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
- International Exams: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
- English Proficiency Tests: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or similar.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview assesses overall aptitude and suitability for the program.
