IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Foreign Nationals

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM IST. Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Eligible candidates include non-Indian nationals. This also covers individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Interested applicants must submit a statement declaring English language proficiency. They must also provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores are also considered. Accepted international exams include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee in the relevant discipline.
