IIT Delhi opened its application portal for international students seeking admission to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 . International candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Eligibility
The programs are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendation letters. They will be asked to comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.
While not always mandatory, submitting scores from standardized tests can strengthen an application. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English can also be demonstrated through scores from international tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
