IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.

Application Process

Prospective students must submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal will close on March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM. Applicants will need to provide a statement of English proficiency. They must also name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

The institute will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
