IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Interested foreign nationals can apply through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Academic Requirements and Selection

For PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. The selection process includes an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to meet with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.

English Proficiency Tests

Applicants must also demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or other recognized language tests.
