IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 . Interested students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. Referees will be assessed on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or equivalent. IIT Delhi may require scores from these tests.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The committee will assess the candidate’s potential for research and independent study.
