IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested foreign nationals can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Process

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. The application also requires the names of two individuals who will provide recommendation letters.

These referees will be contacted to provide assessments. They will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language ability, both spoken and written.

Admission Requirements

While the primary admissions process is outlined, certain standardized test scores may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE scores for PhD and PG programs.

International applicants may also submit scores from examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Proficiency in English can be demonstrated through tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Criteria

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will assess their suitability for the program.
