IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done via a self-declaration. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities. This information is outlined in the official admission notification.

Academic and Entrance Exam Scores

To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. Scores from international examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

English language proficiency tests are also required. Acceptable tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others.

Admission Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s programs will be based on the candidate’s performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
