IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from foreign nationals for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested students can apply through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants might submit scores from tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination results.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. This process assesses candidates’ suitability for advanced study and research.
