The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admissions for International Students
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for the academic year 2026-27. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs is based on the candidate’s interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
