IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals can apply for the 2026-27 academic year through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 p.m. on the application deadline.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must also demonstrate English proficiency. They need to submit a statement or self-declaration of their English language skills.

Recommendations from two referees are required. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Proof of English language proficiency from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is mandatory.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
