IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline for international students is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible.

Admission Process

Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in . The portal is open for admissions for the academic year 2026-27.

Applicants need to submit a statement of English proficiency. They must also provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for PhD and PG admissions. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

English language proficiency test scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
