The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals can submit applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal. The portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. The admissions are for the academic year 2026-27.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency. This requires a self-declaration of their language skills.
Applicants must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to submit recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Required Test Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific national and international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
