IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Application

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency.

Candidates must also provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide letters of recommendation. Their feedback will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

English language proficiency test scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The interview panel will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
