The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for international students seeking admission to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Academic Qualifications and Scores
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from examinations like Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Further, candidates must submit scores from English proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews conducted by a faculty committee in their respective disciplines.
