IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30, 2026

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Process Details

Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national tests like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Selection Criteria

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
