IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for international students to apply is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being processed for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to official notifications.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests for admission. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

Final admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews.
