Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27.
The application portal is live on the official IIT Delhi international admissions website, international.iitd.ac.in . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must demonstrate English proficiency.
Applicants need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters detailing the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Admission Requirements
IIT Delhi accepts scores from national and international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.
International test scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English proficiency must be proven through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Final admission is based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations.
The interview committee comprises faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The committee assesses candidates’ suitability for advanced study and research.
