IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for Int’l Students – Apply by Mar 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 PM. Prospective students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility and Requirements

The programs are open to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration confirming their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

According to IIT Delhi, referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Specific standardized test scores may be required for admission. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE scores for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Candidates must also demonstrate English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department. The academic year for these admissions will be 2026-27.
