IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Indian Examinations: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE.
- International Examinations: GRE, GMAT.
- English Proficiency Tests: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or other recognized tests.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
