The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Admission Process
Interested students must apply through IIT Delhi’s official international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The application window will close on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program.
International examination scores, including Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), are also accepted. Proof of English language proficiency is required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with a strong academic record will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
