IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.

Admission Details

The application portal will remain open until 4 pm on March 30, 2026. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply for both PhD and PG courses for the 2026-27 academic year.

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national or international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Additionally, proof of English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination is required.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
