IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students 2026-27

IIT Delhi has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will evaluate candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities, according to the admission notification.

Admission Requirements

Applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Additionally, candidates must provide scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline. The interview committee assesses overall suitability for the program.
