IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE fellowship is also a potential requirement.

International examination scores are also considered. These include results from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.

The institute previously opened applications for its MDes admissions, with a deadline of March 23. This information is separate from the current PhD and PG program admissions.
