IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals can apply for admission for the academic year 2026-27. The official application portal isinternational.iitd.ac.in. Applications close at 4 p.m. on the deadline date.

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. Two referees should be named to provide recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is available on the official IIT Delhi website.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students may also submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. Interviews are conducted by a faculty committee in the relevant discipline. Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
