IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply through the institute’s official website at international.iitd.ac.in . The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Eligibility and Application Requirements

Non-Indian citizens are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is detailed in the official admission notification.

Admission Criteria

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from national and international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Candidates may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
