The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for submission is March 30, 2026 .
Admission Details
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested students can apply online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
The application portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 . Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two academic referees who will provide recommendation letters.
Application Requirements
Referees will be contacted to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking abilities, and English language skills. Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests.
Required Test Scores
Depending on the program, applicants might need scores from:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Proficiency in English must be demonstrated through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will conduct interviews for shortlisted candidates. Admission will be based on performance in these interviews. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will interview students with strong academic records.
