IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply online at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The admission portal for foreign national candidates will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for PhD and PG programs, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. Additionally, applicants must submit scores from English language proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This committee will comprise faculty members from the relevant discipline.
