IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are accepted until March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. These include:

  • For PhD and PG Programs: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE scores.
  • For PG Programs: GRE or GMAT scores.
  • English Proficiency Tests: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or equivalent.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will offer admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview with a faculty committee. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the chosen discipline.
