IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi has opened admissions for international students to its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs . Applications are now open for the 2026-27 academic year . The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.

Application Details

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Candidates must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referee Recommendations

Referees will assess candidates on their overall aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills. This feedback is part of the admission evaluation.

Eligibility and Scores

While a strong academic record is necessary, candidates may also need to submit scores from specific entrance examinations. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program for PhD and PG courses.

International examination scores such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted. English language proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are required.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on the candidate’s performance in an interview. Those with strong academic backgrounds will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The institute will evaluate their suitability for advanced study and research.

Interested international students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal will remain open until the March 30, 2026 deadline.
