Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are managed through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Application Process
Candidates must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International candidates may also submit scores from exams like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
In addition to academic qualifications, applicants must submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Criteria
IIT Delhi will base admissions on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
