IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Application Details
The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications must be submitted by 4 PM on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to nominate two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These letters will assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Academic Credentials and Scores
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview. This committee evaluates candidates’ suitability for the program.
